Milford “Fred” Lyndon Reeder, 73, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on Saturday, October 12, 2024. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Resthaven Memorial Park. A Memorial Reception will be held between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Fred was born on August 28, 1951, in McAlester, OK, to Alvin Lee and Doris Eldean (Sutterfield) Reeder. After graduating high school in 1969, he attended Eastern State college with an associate’s degree in telecommunications. After graduation in 1971, he moved to Ponca City, and became the manager at sirloin stockade. In that time he met the love of his life, Mary Herrington. They were married Aug 10, 1979. In March 1978, he started as a cable tech with Post News Week Cable, which went through several company name changes, and ended up retiring with Cable One in November, 2016.
He was very active in the community whether it was filming commissioner meetings, walking in the Christmas parade, being active as a deacon at sunset Baptist church for many years; as well as, being involved at First Baptist Church. His most cherished time was the Boy Scouts, hardly ever missing one camp out! He loved to be around people and didn’t know a stranger. He was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed one.
Fred is survived by: his daughter, Melissa Poling and her husband, Scott, of Ponca City, OK; son, Matthew Reeder of Ponca City, OK; grandchildren, Nadia Poling, Elijah Poling, and Emmalyn Poling; sisters, Karen Yarbrough and her husband, Quinton, of Gerty, OK, Kathy Moore and her husband, Robert, of McAlester, OK; several aunts; numerous cousins, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and his parents, Alvin and Doris.
