Oklahoma City Doctor Convicted for Stealing Drugs Faces up to 72 Years in Prison

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA (KOKH) — An Oklahoma City doctor has been convicted of up to 72 years in federal prison after stealing controlled substances.

John Nedza, 35, was convicted of 18 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by deceit or subterfuge.

Dr. Nedza, a contract anesthesiologist at an Oklahoma City Hospital, diverted controlled substances, including Fentanyl, Ketamine, Dilaudid, and Midazolam.

According to evidence provided at the trial, Dr. Medza pulled out large amounts of controlled substances by claiming the drugs were for patient surgeries.

These surgeries were not scheduled for or done by Dr. Medza.

On at least six occasions, he claimed to have disposed of the drugs, but instead kept them for personal use.

Dr. Medza faces a maximum of four years per count, totaling a possible sentence of 72 years in federal prison.
