Oklahoma Senate Presents Resolution Condemning Political Violence, Honoring Victims and President Trump

OKLAHOMA CITY – During a special session Monday, the Oklahoma Senate presented and passed a resolution condemning acts of political violence.

The resolution honored the innocent victims and President Donald Trump after he sustained injuries during an assassination attempt at his rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“The Senate stands strong against political violence of any kind,” Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, said. “As we continue to pray for President Trump’s recovery and the victims of this senseless act of violence, the Oklahoma Senate thought it was appropriate to take this time to reflect, come together and appropriately condemn this atrocious act. While there is room to question why this happened, what could be done different and take necessary actions to improve security moving forward, we must also recognize and commend the swift action of those who assisted in the immediate aftermath of this tragedy. I appreciate all of my colleagues who voted on this today and pray our country can get to a place where this isn’t necessary in the future.”
