Cecil was born August 25, 1938, in Ponca City, OK, to Cecil and Vesta Letha (Mike) Cales. He attended Burbank School, graduating in 1956, then went on to Northern Oklahoma College and graduated in 1958, with an associate’s degree. On October 25, 1958, he married Nona Lea Love of Red Rock, OK, and they made their home at the nine mile corner in Osage county for 50 plus years. They had two children, Sherrie Powell and Steve Cales. Cecil was a wheat farmer and operated Cales Trucking for over 40 years, was a member of First Christian Church, and was active in the Braden community for 50 years.
Cecil loved square dancing and riding with the Ponca City Trailblazers. He bowled on a league for years, and always enjoyed a good game of pitch with friends, and playing poker with his uncles.
