Mary Lou (Cooper) Gregg, age 91, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away May 12, 2024 at Via Christi Village, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Care is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Mary Lou was born on September 3rd, 1932 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Thomas Leon and Georgia Mae (Hunnicutt) Cooper . Mary Lou grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1950. On August 3, 1952 she married Richard Brice Gregg.

As a kid, Mary Lou was a tomboy that preferred climbing the giant tree in her childhood backyard and getting scraped knees opposed to playing with dolls and dress up. As a teenager, she took to playing the piano and singing and after finding she had a knack for both even cut a record that she proudly displayed in her home. In High School she worked at the Woolworth Store in downtown Ponca City and enjoyed bowling which she later taught her love of to her children. After having her and Richard’s three kids, Mary Lou helped to run her husband’s business by working with him from the mid 60’s to the mid 80’s at Gregg Storage Warehouses

Mary Lou was an overly kind and generous person who doted on her three children, David, Alisa and Tracy and later in life her grandchildren and great grandchildren. While her two boys were in Scouts she was a den mother and received the Silver Fawn Medal, which at the time was the highest honor a woman could be awarded by the Boy Scout Organization. Mary Lou was a long standing member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for a short time and was in Choir for years. She was known to give her children and grandchildren looks from the choir loft when they were misbehaving or acting a fool. In her later years, Mary Lou loved crosswords, ice cream and her beloved dachshunds.

Survivors include her children, sons David Gregg and Tracy Gregg of Ponca City, OK and daughter M. Alisa Falwell of Yukon, OK, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death were her husband Richard, parents T. Leon and Georgia and Son-in-Law Bruce Falwell.
