Canadian County deputies seize $1 million in drugs during I-40 traffic stop

CANADIAN COUNTY, (KOKH) —Canadian County Sheriff’s Dept. released information about a traffic stop on May 26, when sheriff deputies in Canadian County performed a stop on Interstate 40 where they recovered large quantities of multiple narcotics.
From this stop, approximately 94 pounds of marijuana, 27 kilograms of cocaine and five kilograms of fentanyl were seized from a semi-truck.
According to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Department, Gervis Gayle, age 64, was arrested on the scene.
The drugs were en route from California to New Jersey with a street value of around $1,000,000.
Deputies initially stopped Gayle for following another vehicle too closely.
Gayle had paperwork for frozen foods and was transporting four black drums labeled frozen grapes.
Canadian County K-9 alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics after Gayle permitted a search of the truck.
After a forensic examination of Gayle’s cellphones, it was found that this was his fifth trip in trafficking narcotics.
Deputies arrested Gayle for trafficking narcotics and his bond was set at $200,000.
