Ponca City Resident Killed, Passenger Injured in One Vehicle Accident Thursday Morning

PONCA CITY — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Kay County Sheriffs Dept. officers responded to an auto accident early this morning in Kay County.

David Wayne Taylor, 48, was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota west on Hubbard Road when he lost control of the vehicle, departed the road to the right, struck a ditch and then a tree. A passenger and Taylor were both ejected from the vehicle.

Taylor was taken to a local hospital where he died as a result of injuries from the accident and the passenger, a 15-year-old female was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas where she is listed in fair condition with head and arm injuries..

The one vehicle accident occurred just before 5:00 am at the intersection of and Prentice Road and Hubbard Rd.

Officer reports list the cause of the accident as driving too fast for road conditions.

The report says seatbelts were not in use.
