Danny Alexander

September 17, 1954 — May 16, 2024

Danny Ray Alexander, 69, of Shidler passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was born to Bill and Ruth Meyer Alexander on Sept. 17, 1954, in Borger, TX.

Danny grew up in Phillips Camp, Shidler, and graduated with the class of 1972. After high school Danny went to Okmulgee Tech, graduating with a mechanics degree. After college, Danny worked for DiVall Service Station in Shidler, and for Auto Electric in Ponca City for many years. Danny’s dream job was working for Shidler schools as the Building and Bus Superintendent. He loved his school, and the students there, always saying they were his kids.

Danny was a retired Fireman/Firefighter 1/EMT, having proudly served on the Shidler Volunteer Fire Dept. for 24 years. He served his community as President of the Shidler Area Chamber of Commerce and brought joy to kids and older adults by playing Santa Claus every year for Christmas. He was a board member of the District 11 Alumni Association for many years, and loved visiting with past alumni. He loved working on old cars, loving all things Packard and Hudson, and was proud of his blue 1949 Packard, “Maudie”. He was a member of the Classic Car Club of Ponca City, and the Hudson Car Club.

Danny was a member of the Shidler Methodist Church.

Danny touched so many lives in so many ways. You couldn’t go anywhere with him, that he didn’t run into someone he knew and had made a difference in their lives. Whether it be a “Good Morning”!! in the middle of the day or handing a bag of M&Ms to a little one, Danny wanted to bring a smile to your face.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruth, and his brother, Larry Joe. He is survived by his cousins Kenneth Peterman and wife Tammy; and David Peterman and his wife Jean; and his beloved cats, Junior, Runt and Sis. Danny will be missed by many who will always care for him and cherish his friendship.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 1:00 pm in Grandview Cemetery, Kaw City, OK, with Pastor Bill Long officiating. Danny will lie in state at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City on Tuesday May 21, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm. Memorial Contributions may be made in Danny’s name to the Sidler Volunteer Fire Department, Fireman’s Fund, PO Box 335, Shidler, OK 74652.

Pall Bearers will be Pat Patton, Dale Head, Paul Tubbs, Matt Holland, Eddie Bruner, and Rick Hammer.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Butch Harmon, Billy Correll, Harland McClaskey, Fred Miller, Bill Coats, Larry Patton, and the members of the Shidler Volunteer Fire Department.
