OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A fired Oklahoma Department of Affairs investigator has been charged with impersonating a law officer, perjury and being a felon in possession of firearm.

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt says the charges were filed Monday against 41-year-old Steven Pancoast. Pancoast has denied wrongdoing.

Pruitt says Pancoast falsely claimed he was a state-certified law officer and that he committed perjury by testifying in court under the premise of being a law officer. Pruitt says Pancoast has felony convictions in New Jersey.

As an ODVA investigator, Pancoast worked with local, state and federal law agencies on various cases.

He was fired earlier this month after coming under investigation.
