Two people are dead after a motorcycle crash in Chouteau on Thursday, the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office says.

The sheriff’s office says that a deputy was stopping the motorcycle, but by the time the deputy turned around to get the bike less than a block away, the biker hit and killed a pedestrian. They said the motorcyclist also died.

Deputies couldn’t confirm if the biker was speeding.

One witness says she heard and saw the bike speeding down her street just near the scene before hearing the motorcycle stop and sirens start.

OHP is leading this investigation.
