2 KILLED IN OKLAHOMA CITY PLANE CRASH IDENTIFIED

OKLAHOMA CITY- (KOKH) — Two people are dead after a Sunday morning plane crash near an airport in Oklahoma City.
“It was severely damaged, and it was on fire. It was fully engulfed in flames when our crews arrived on the scene, so the entire aircraft was fully engulfed when we arrived on the scene,” said David Shearer, Shift Commander for the Oklahoma City Fire Department (OKCFD).
Shearer said a small, single-engine aircraft crashed near the Wiley Post airport.
“Bystanders that witnessed the accident were trying to rescue them as well, but the heat was keeping them from being able to get to them,” he said.
Shearer said the fire department received a call at 10:20 am and got to the scene not too long after. He said they believed the person who died on the scene was the passenger. He added the plane had taken off from the airport some time prior and was returning to the airport when the crash happened.
“They were able to get the one person away, and when our crews arrived on the scene, they began treating him. He was transported to Baptist Hospital in critical condition.
According to OKCFD, the man who was listed in critical condition was pronounced dead Sunday night.
Shearer said the cause of the crash is unclear at this time and that the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating.
The two victims of the crash have been identified.
Barrett and Megan Ellis are the victims.
Barrett Ellis was an attorney with the OU Foundation, and Megan Ellis was the Executive Director of Sooner Nation Collective, a NIL Organization.
