Ty Joseph LeClair
December 9, 1996 – August 28, 2023
Ty Joseph LeClair, 26, resident of Los Angeles, California, left this world unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Ty was born on December 9, 1996, in Ponca City, the son of Joseph and Tiffanie LeClair. He attended Ponca City Schools and graduated from PoHi in 2015. During his time at PoHi, he was active in baseball, track and cross country, lettering in all three sports. After graduation, Ty attended NOC in Tonkawa. He later decided that college was “not his thing.”
Ty entered the work force at the Kaw Nation Casino in Braman, Oklahoma. Although the money was good being a slot tech, he discovered working there was not his thing either. He then went to work for Hembree and Hodgson Construction for the next five years, before moving to California to work on a better life for himself. He loved it in California and planned on making it his new home, living his best life. Ty made many new friends in the short time he was there. His brother even thinks he had a girlfriend. Ty finally decided college may have been the right thing after all. He was in the process of enrolling in college classes for the fall semester. He was also working at “Wheel Fun Rentals” at the river.
Ty enjoyed listening to music, playing disc golf and supporting his brother in sports. He also encouraged him to always do his best on and off the field. He was also very encouraging to his sister. He loved them both very much. Ty enjoyed watching basketball. He even attended a Clippers game in California.
Ty is survived by: his parents, Joe and Tiffanie LeClair; one brother, Hayden LeClair and sister, Madysun Strasburger, all of Ponca City, Oklahoma; maternal grandparents, Linda Tate of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Jeff and Judy Graham of Coffeyville, Kansas, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ty is preceded in death by: his big brother, Jace; paternal grandparents, Eleanor and Arlington LeClair; paternal aunt, Sandy LeClair and paternal uncle, Ryan LeClair. Pallbearers are: Silas Grass, Hunter Stein, Matt Uribe, Logan Kreen, Jeremy Combrink, Zack Burdick, Marcos Amador and Jubil McBlair.
Ty will be taken to the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Complex at 4:00 PM, Monday, September 11, 2023, with evening services to follow. A Traditional Noon Feast will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023, with a Funeral Ceremony at 2:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery.
