Donna Dean Dunham of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away Friday evening, September 1st, 2023, in the Norman Regional Hospital in Norman at the age of 51 years.
Donna Dean Dunham was born on November 28th, 1971, in Wichita, Kansas, to William Dean and Louella Ann (Ellis) Dunham. She grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1990. She graduated from LaBette Community College in Parsons, Kansas and became a licensed respiratory therapist. While working at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, OK, she met Jay Garrett and they married in October, 1996. Donna dearly loved working with Ms. Colleen Blevins, Jamie, Carolyn and Chris and their sweet students. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and making homemade chicken and noodles—both skills she learned from her mom, spending time with her children, and as of late, watching the Westminster Dog Show with her beloved dog, LuLu.
Donna is survived by her three children, Delaney Garrett of Tulsa, Carson Garrett and Ella Garrett of Norman; a sister, Lori Meador and husband Mark of Blackwell; a brother, Michael Nooney of Fairfield, WA; two nieces, Marlee Brown and husband Joseph, of Blackwell, and Megan Meador of Washington, DC; and a nephew, Michael Meador and wife Ruth, of Blackwell, and many aunts and beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9th at Immanuel Baptist Church with Matt Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Havana, Kansas.
Honorary casket bearers will be Chris Kincaid, Tony Gose, Keven Criner, Michael Nooney, Lenny Dunham, and Mark Meador.
Memorials in her honor may be made for the Life Skills Class at Blackwell High School or the OU Children’s Hospital.
