Camp McFadden schedules summer sessions

Camp McFadden on Kaw Lake has set its summer camp sessions for 2015.

Full camp sessions are scheduled for June 7-12; June 21-26; June 28-July 3; July 5-10; July 12-17 and July 19-24. Each camp starts on Sunday and ends on Friday.

The camps are designed for boys and girls ages 8 to 16.

Cost for the camps is $350; if paid in full by May 4, it is $325.

Mini Camp sessions are set for June 15-17 and June 17-19. These are designed to let younger campers "get their feet wet." These are a shorter camp with a maximum of 40 campers per session, and are for children ages 6-9.

Cost for mini camp sessions is $180 or $165 if paid in full by May 4.

A leadership development camp scheduled for June 7-19 is open to high school age campers entering the 10th through 12th grades in the fall. The program will challenge campers physically and mentally to become better leaders. There will be a maximum of 5 boys and 5 girls. Cost is $490; if paid by full by May 4, it is $465.

Two sessions are set for kayaking on Kaw Lake. Dates are June 21-July 3 or July 5-17. This is open to high school age campers entering grades 9-12 in the fall. The camp will give campers new skills while circumnavigating Kaw Lake. A maximum of 10 campers are allowed per session. Cost is $490, or $465 if paid in full by May 4.

Camp McFadden is a nonprofit independent summer resident camp and retreat facility. It was founded in 1927 as a Camp Fire Girls camp by oilman William McFadden. This will be the seventh summer for a co-ed camp since the Camp Fire Girls departed in the 1990s.

The camp is open to all interested boys and girls and there is a fund-raising program and limited scholarships available.
