KOKH - July 11, 2023 10:13 am

Overnight storms wreaked havoc across the Oklahoma City metro Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Flooding impacted the Tuesday morning commute, with several areas in Oklahoma City seeing localized flash flooding.

Several cars stalled in high water on May Avenue near Northwest 23rd.

Power lines came crashing down near Penn and Memorial and Santa Fe and Memorial.

Some cars were trapped under powerlines overnight.

More than 5,000 people were without power early Tuesday morning.

Accidents due to rain were reported across the metro during the Tuesday morning commute. A truck flipped over a median on I-235 near Northeast 23rd around 6:40 a.m.

In Norman, flooding was reported on several streets around OU’s campus, including College Avenue just west of campus.

Heavy rainfall is expected to clear by 9 a.m. Tuesday, making way for significant heat to settle across the area, with highs reaching near 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service in Norman wants people to report storm damage and flooding to them.
