The ORU Golden Eagles are officially College World Series bound as the team left for Omaha on Wednesday.

They still have a couple of days until the first game, but the excitement is greater than ever.

Fans said this team has what it takes to win it all, and they can’t wait to cheer them on for every minute of the College World Series.

“They are really good. They’re the top defensive team, they’re really good,” said Solomon Smittle.

Fans gathered around to say prayers and send well wishes as the team loaded up for Omaha.

“I mean you got Jonah Cox with that 47 game hitting streak, and it’s just fun to watch them,” said Jack Noble.

Jack Noble and his friends, Solomon Smittle and Kellen Casper, have been at ORU baseball camp this week learning everything they can from the team.

Kellen is headed off to Omaha to watch the guys play in person. He said he can’t wait to see his hometown team play.

“You’re going to one of the best ballparks in America, and you get to watch some of the best teams play, so it’s really cool to see a team that lives in your area be in that group,” he said.

While the team takes off for Omaha to hopefully make their dreams come true, the little kids left behind are hoping they’ll have the same chance someday too.

“It makes me want to do that too. It puts a drive in your head where you train harder, you want to be on that stage, you want to be able to do that,” Solomon said.

The Golden Eagles will play Friday afternoon, June 16 against TCU.
