Donald Trump Fires Back at Oklahoma Gov. Stitt for Endorsing Ron DeSantis in 2024 Presidential Race

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Former President Donald Trump is firing back at Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt.

Over the weekend, Stitt came out and endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as the next President of the United States. DeSantis and Trump are seen among the early frontrunners for the Republican nomination in 2024.

“[DeSantis is] just so bold. and all of the governors look up to him,” said Stitt. “We need somebody that can beat Joe Biden, and I think Ron DeSantis is the guy.”

Stitt said DeSantis’ work in Florida serves as an example of what he could do in the Oval Office.

“I think it’s time to turn the page,” said Stitt. “And I just really like what Ron’s doing and what he did in Florida. I think we have an example of what he can do for the country.”

Now Trump is taking issue with Stitt’s endorsement of DeSantis.

“Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, who I didn’t know very well, called me before his last election to say he was in big trouble and very much needed my endorsement,” Trump wrote in a social media post. ” I love Oklahoma and won 77 out of 77 counties, something that never happened before. Ronald Reagan was next with 56. Anyway, I gave him my endorsement, he immediately went way up and won. Now, despite the fact that DeSanctimonious is losing to Biden and me, Stitt just endorsed him. Wow!”

Stitt said the federal indictment against Trump had nothing to do with his decision to endorse someone else.

“Everybody knows that’s just a political tool that the Biden administration’s doing to try and take out one of their opponents,” said Stitt.

Stitt said that if DeSantis is not chosen as the Republican party’s nominee he will still support whoever is chosen.
