Thunderhand Joe Redbone Tribute Show This Saturday at Poncan Theater

Poncan Theater - May 25, 2023 6:36 am

Former drummer for the powerhouse Native rock group Redbone,’Thunderhand Joe’ and his band are a sweet confection of rhythm and blues, rock and roll and sizzling funk. An amazing band, ‘Joe and the Show’ are one of the best ‘live’ bands in Indian Country today. Thrilling audiences from coast to coast, this California quartet plays more dates each year than Cheap Trick.
Beginning his musical career playing with one of the most successful Native American groups of all time,”Thunderhand Joe’ spent his musical formative years with the infamous Vegas brothers (Pat and Lolly). Touring with Redbone with ’70’s monster hits like “Witch Queen of New Orleans” and “Come and Get Your Love”, was invaluable experience, learning the ‘ins and outs’ of the music business, production, writing and, of course, recording.
By the early 1990s, ‘Thunderhand Joe’ was redirecting his creative energies into his own unique brand of rock and roll. After eighteen years on the road, the journeyman drummer decided that the time was right. He went out on his own and formed ‘Thunderhand Joe and the Medicine Show’, becoming one of the hardest working bands in the Native music business. The result was an original blend of classic rock, funk and rhythm and blues. Show starts at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 27 at the Poncan Theater, 104 East Grand.
