Two people have been charged in connection to the death of 2-year-old Oaklee Snow, an Oklahoma girl who had been reported missing in January.

Police in Indiana confirmed that the body of Oaklee has been found. According to police reports, Oaklee’s body was found in a dresser drawer in an abandoned building in Morgan County, Indiana.

“We are heartbroken at the results for Oaklee. We are numb, and at a loss for words,” Oaklee’s family said in a statement given to FOX 25. “Nothing can explain the amount of pain family and close loved ones are feeling at this time. We will always carry Oaklee in our hearts for the rest of our life. She did not deserve this, and we are seeking justice for Oaklee. Please continue prayers for her family and loved ones. This is a nightmare that unfortunately we won’t get to wake up from.”

The mother of Oaklee, Madison Marshall, and Marshall’s ex-boyfriend Roan Waters are facing charges for their alleged roles in the death and disappearance of the toddler.

Waters has been charged with multiple charges, including murder. Marshall is facing multiple charges, including two counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and assisting a criminal.

“As parents, we have a duty to protect our children. Not only did these two individuals fail to live up to that responsibility, but the allegations in the probable cause affidavit indicate that Oaklee suffered a horrific death and an abandonment that diminished the dignity that any child deserves,” Prosecutor Ryan Mears stated. “I want to thank the multiple law enforcement agencies and our prosecutors who worked tirelessly to locate this child and seek justice on her behalf.”

The charges were announced on Wednesday as a result of a collaborative investigation of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Indiana State Police, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana, and law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma, Colorado, and North Carolina.

“This case is one of the most challenging types of cases for a community and for our investigators, said IMPD Chief Randal Taylor. “I want to thank the hard work the IMPD Missing Persons Unit detectives put into this investigation. When they learned there was a chance Oaklee Snow may have been in Indianapolis, detectives put in a tremendous amount of effort into locating her. I want to also thank all of the law enforcement agencies who assisted in this investigation, both in Indiana and across the country.”

In January, Oaklee’s biological father reported her and another child, a little boy, he has with Marshall missing from his home in Cromwell, Oklahoma. The father told investigators that Marshall and Waters took his children from his home and were supposedly heading to Indianapolis.

Investigators were able to find the little boy and return him safely to the father, but the search for Oaklee continued.

On March 3, Waters was located and arrested by the Greenwood Village Police Department in Colorado on an outstanding warrant. While it was believed Marshall had been staying with Waters, her and the children were not located with him at that time.

Investigators eventually tracked Marshall to North Carolina, where she was found, arrested, and extradited to Marion County. During interviews with investigators, Marshall alleged that Waters had killed Oaklee and they moved her body to Morgan County in Indiana back in February.

Investigators say ultimately, they found Oaklee’s body in a dresser drawer, left behind in an abandoned building in Morgan County.
