Schools offering End-of-Instruction test boot camp

Ponca City Now - January 29, 2015 7:58 am

Ponca City Senior High School will offer students a focused learning opportunity to assist in End-of-Instruction testing success.

Certified math, English, social studies, and science teachers at Po-Hi will be providing extra help for six weeks before the EOI tests.

Sessions will be held only on Wednesdays only, after school, beginning Feb. 25 and ending on April 8. There will be no Boot Camp during Spring Break, which is the week of March 16-20.

The spring EOI testing window begins on April 13.

Students will be tutored in algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and biology from 4 to 6 p.m., and in English II, English III, and U.S. history from 5 to 7 p.m.

Classroom numbers at Ponca City High School are below.

Biology room 123

English room 213

U.S. History room 102

Math room A207

Algebra I room A207

Algebra II and Geometry room 234

Students who have been identified as needing additional support based on previous state assessment data will be targeted. State law requires that, to obtain a high school diploma, all students must score a satisfactory or better on algebra I and English II, and two (2) other of the seven (7) EOI/state assessments.

Because of this law, attendance at Boot Camp or Saturday school the six weeks prior to EOI testing is required.

Boot Camp sessions are staggered to allow an opportunity for students who may need support in more than one assessment, specifically algebra I and English II.

Parents who receive a letter will need to fill out and remove the bottom part of the letter and return it to the high school main office.
