Oklahoma Farmer Looks For Love on New Show

COYLE, Okla. (KOKH) — Landon Heaton spends his days ranching on his farm in Coyle, Oklahoma but he found finding true love trickier than finding a needle in a haystack.

“I’m fairly reasonably isolated out here. I’m thirty minutes from the closest town,” Heaton said. “And then you start focusing on your everyday life, the animals, the horses, the cattle, the dogs, kind of put dating in the background. I feel like I’d maybe just accepted that I was okay living out here by myself”

Even though Heaton wasn’t looking for love, it was trying to find him through an Instagram message.

“One of my guilty pleasures is I like messing with spam accounts, and so I was like, I’ll fill this out and then they were like okay, we’ll give you a call and I was like absolutely, I can not wait to take this phone call because I assumed it was a scam, and then turns out it was not,” Heaton said.

A short time after that Heaton was on a plane to Nashville to help select the five women coming back to live life on his Oklahoma farm for a chance at a red-dirt romance.

“It’s strange. These girls come out here and most of them are about as country as a Tesla,” Heaton said. “It was eye-opening to see these girls from different walks of life that had nothing to do with farming, ranching cattle, or anything like that, and I’m sure they all learned quite a bit out here. I think I learned more about myself from them and the things that I am looking for and it’s not a checklist that you can cross out. It’s about how someone makes you feel and who you are around them.”

Heaton is a little anxious to see himself on reality television.

“I’m nervous for my reaction, we haven’t got to see the show yet,” he said. “We’re getting it the same time everyone else is. We signed up for it so hopefully, they’re going to make us look as good as we can.”

He still said it was a fun adventure.

When we asked Heaton if he found a wife, all he said was, “I was very pleased with how this whole situation ended,” with a smile on his face.
