Damar Hamlin

AP-Damar Hamlin faced plenty of backlash after the Buffalo Bills safety wore a controversial jacket that appeared to display a crucifix and Jesus’ head.

“You should be thanking God son! This is Blasphemy!!” NFL running back Adrian Peterson posted to social media.

Hamlin, 23, was there to help honor the first responders who helped save his life when he collapsed on Jan. 2.

Sitting next to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Donna Kelce, Hamlin was seen wearing the $3,150 Takashi Murakami “Travis Jesus” jacket.

Not long after, Peterson called him out for it. “”We all fall short but c’mon man! I find this disrespectful!! #grateful #goddid,” he continued.

But he wasn’t the only one, many others tweeted their frustration. User @Liz_churchill8 said, “Is this how he thanks everyone that prayed for him?” User @niceblackdude said, “A mockery of Jesus Christ by Damar Hamlin at the #SuperBowl. The symbolism is everywhere tonight.”
