Ponca City High School Wildcat #14 is Senior Brynn Crandall

The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #14 for the 2022-2023 school year was presented to Po-Hi senior Brynn Crandall. “Brynn is a very active and a very driven student,” said PCPS Superintendent Shelley Arrott. “As a senior, she is only enrolled in 3 courses at Po-Hi and is enrolled in 4 courses of concurrent enrollment and attends both the University Center in Ponca City and Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. At Po-Hi she is enrolled in Po-Hi Steppers, Agricultural Leadership, and Girls Tennis, so her required English as a senior is through concurrent enrollment. In addition, Brynn is a member of the National Honor Society. She has always put forth her best effort and has made exemplary grades throughout her school years. Her discipline in doing whatever it takes to excel in school or in her extracurricular activities has always been a top priority for her. The work she submits is of the highest quality and she strives to improve in all her activities. Brynn is an all-around wonderful student and is very goal driven, but what sets Brynn apart from other students is her positive attitude.”

Frazier said, “I first met Miss Brynn at the 9th grade orientation at Po-Hi just before her freshman year and knew from that moment she was going to be an awesome student and FFA member. Brynn always comes to class with a good attitude and a smile on her face and is a pleasure to have in class. She is very conscientious in her studies and her work is top-notch. She is so deserving of this award and truly embodies the spirit of the Wildcat Way Award.”

Superintendent Shelley Arrott stated, “The best way I can describe Brynn’s attitude is SPICY! Her attitude has a lot of ‘flavor’ because she is just so fun and full of life. Unless you know Brynn, it is hard to explain her personality. She has the perfect mix of just this slight bit of sarcasm, but always retorts with the most positive comments. Some may think this is not a good trait to have, but for Brynn it works in the most positive way. Her friends and teachers are never offended by her quick wit, but instead she leaves everyone eager for what she might say next.” Frazier added, “Never does one have to wonder what Miss Brynn has on her mind, because if she is thinking it, she is going to say it.”

“Brynn, I provided some examples of your spicy attitude during the presentation of the Wildcat of the Week award during your Ag class. One example I shared was at the Back-to-School Staff Pep Assembly in August, the Hi-Steppers were performing to welcome staff into the new school year. For some reason, I was in charge of the Hi-Steppers on the stage while Ms. Smith had to take care of something for work. I told the Steppers that as the band played as the staff entered the Concert Hall, the Hi-Steppers needed to be in formation and do Drum Routines based on the captain’s lead. You looked at me with this look on your face and said, I think you mean STAND Routines. I quickly responded that I think it must be Stand Routines that I meant since I am not well-versed in Hi-Stepper lingo. Well, you just gave me a big ole bear hug and you said, “That’s alright! You get an ‘A’ for effort!” Another example is I told you that I had asked all your teachers why you should be the Wildcat of the Week. You responded with big, wide eyes, “Oh, boy; I am afraid to even hear, “ but you quickly responded with, “No matter what they said I have THE best teachers.”

“I caught up with Coach Williams, your tennis coach, in the Commons and asked him specifics about why you should be Wildcat of the Week. He said you are very goal driven and have a plan for your life. As he was describing your personality, he said she is just so…and as he was thinking, I asked if ‘spicy’ was the word he was looking for! He said, spicy is the perfect word to describe your personality! Ms. Smith, your Hi-Stepper coach, said you are so fun and so full of life!!! She said you make being in the gym at 6:30 AM for practice each day a complete joy. She mentioned she can always count on you to keep the mood light. She also said you are a great student and very serious about your grades. She concluded with some very profound words … I love her!”

“Brynn, upon graduation you plan to attend the University of Oklahoma and go into nursing. That is the perfect field for you because you will not only provide your patients with great care, but you will keep them in stitches with your fun-loving attitude.”

“You, Brynn, are just that student we are all going to miss so much upon graduation. You not only excel in all you do, but you keep us in line, make our lives more enjoyable, and keep the spirit light at school. When Ms. Smith provided her sentiments, she said that she loved you. Rest assured, that sentiment is felt by all of us! You are an amazing Wildcat and I hope to always stay connected to you. Your family, your school family, and everyone who knows you are so incredibly proud of you. Thank you for making our world a brighter and happier place! We ALL love you!”

The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored by Heather Cannon Honda. The award is for a deserving high school student who follows the characteristics of the Wildcat Way which are Work Ethic, Improve, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork. These characteristics may be exhibited in any setting and is open to all Ponca City High School students.

Several Ponca City patrons are involved in making the “Wildcat of the Week” a reality. These partners include Tina Christian, Senator Bill Coleman – TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon – Heather Cannon Honda, Danny’s BBQ Head Quarters, and Tyndall Dentistry.

Each week a new “Wildcat of the Week” will be selected from the nominations of TEAM Radio listeners and viewers. Winners receive a free BBQ sandwich meal from Danny’s BBQ Head Quarters and a T-shirt from Boss Custom Tees. PCPS will make the presentation weekly at Po-Hi.
