Oklahoma Blood Institute Faces Emergency Blood Shortage

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is facing a dangerous emergency blood shortage.

OBI says the winter storms hitting Oklahoma this winter are forcing donors to cancel donation appointments and also causing blood drives to be delayed.

Oklahoma’s blood supply was already at critical levels last week and now OBI is issuing an immediate plea for donors of all blood types.

Blood supply levels remain below the necessary three to a five-day supply. To maintain an ample supply for state hospitals, OBI needs 1,200 blood donations a day.
