Stillwater Medical – Blackwell Holding Community Town Hall Meeting This Month

Ponca City Now - January 13, 2023 6:31 am

Stillwater Medical – Blackwell has seen many changes over the past few years. The Covid pandemic, decreased reimbursement, reduced volumes and drastic increases in expenses.

Due to this increased financial stress, Stillwater Medical – Blackwell has been trying to find financially viable ways to continue to provide quality patient care to the citizens of Blackwell and surrounding communities. Stillwater Medical – Blackwell will be applying for a new hospital designation, Rural Emergency Hospital (REH), from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). They believe the benefits from this new designation will allow them to continue providing healthcare services now and into the future.

The only change to current healthcare services would be patients requiring care beyond 24 hours. All current services, including Emergency Room, Outpatient Care, and the Rural Health Clinic will remain.

Stillwater Medical – Blackwell has worked with the City of Blackwell to set up a community town hall where more information can be presented. This community town hall will be at the Event Center at the Blackwell fairgrounds on January 26th at 12:00pm and again at 5:30pm.
