Active Shooter Training Tuesday at Newkirk Middle School

On Tuesday, January 3rd, starting at 9:00 am, law enforcement and fire/EMS emergency responders from around Kay County and Arkansas City will be at the Newkirk Middle School preforming a scenario on an active shooter situation.

Students will be out of class that day but teachers and staff will be on scene.

Again this is just a scenario.

The area around the school campus will be closed until at least 12:00 PM.

Scenarios like this allows local law enforcement to work with area agencies to prepare for emergencies of all kinds.

Newkirk Public Schools (NPS) will welcome students back on Wednesday , January 4.
