Thousands honor King’s memory

TULSA, Okla. (AP) – Thousands turned out in Tulsa for the annual Martin Luther King parade in Tulsa while Gov. Mary Fallin praised the late civil rights leader in Oklahoma City.

Tulsa police said up to 10,000 were expected for the nearly four mile parade on the city’s north side.

In Oklahoma City, Gov. Mary Fallin praised King as a great hero who advanced civil rights and equality with non-violent civil disobedience.

Fallin spoke to a crowd of about 200 at the Oklahoma History Center following a silent march of about two miles to the Oklahoma state Capitol.
