“Spirit of Beauty” exhibit opens at Art Center

Ponca City Now - January 19, 2015 8:37 am

The Ponca City Art Center opened its January exhibit, "The Spirit of Beauty," with a reception Friday and the unveiling of the 12th portrait in the series.

Cathy Cole was the subject of the portrait created by Theresa Sacket. The portrait was created from four digital images and then printed.

Cole was chosen by the public to be the subject of the portrait at the dance where the previous 11 portraits were unveiled.

All 12 portraits are on exhibit at the Art Center, 819 East Central Ave., through Jan. 31. The portraits are of real Ponca City women set in historic Ponca City locations. The portraits are the work of several artists with ties to Ponca City. Each portrait is 4 feet by 6 feet.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
