Oklahoma History Center Joins Smithsonian Magazine’s Annual Museum Day

Oklahoma Historical Society - September 6, 2022 9:45 am

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma History Center (OHC) will open its doors free of charge on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of Smithsonian magazine’s annual Museum Day. On this day only, participating museums from all 50 states offer free admission to Museum Day ticketholders, representing the Smithsonian Institution’s national commitment to access, equality and inclusion.

Join the OHS as it celebrates this year’s Museum Day theme, “American Experience.” Museum Day goes beyond getting visitors through museum doors—it acts as a springboard to empower and help advance the hopes and ambitions of the public, particularly school-aged children, and those in underrepresented communities.

Visitors who present the Museum Day ticket at participating museums will gain free entrance for the ticketholder and one guest. One ticket per email address is permitted. For more information about Museum Day and a full list of participating museums and cultural institutions, or to download your ticket, please visit smithsonianmag.com/museumday/search. To obtain your ticket for free admission to the OHC, type “Oklahoma History Center” into the search box and click “Find Museum.”

The Oklahoma History Center is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, National Archives and is an accredited member of the American Alliance of Museums. The mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society is to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people. Founded in 1893 by members of the Territorial Press Association, the OHS maintains museums, historic sites and affiliates across the state. Through its research archives, exhibits, educational programs and publications the OHS chronicles the rich history of Oklahoma. For more information about the OHS, please visit www.okhistory.org.
