OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality says a gauge containing radioactive material that was stolen from the parking lot of an Oklahoma City hotel has been recovered.
The department said Monday that the gauge was found during the weekend by a citizen and recovered by Oklahoma City police.
DEQ says the radioactive material inside the gauge remained securely locked and was intact.
The gauge called a Humboldt Scientific 5001 EZ is used to measure the moisture content and density of construction materials. It was stolen in mid-December from the parking lot of a hotel near Interstate 40.
