Five Year Gap

Five Year Gap will take the stage for their Full Moon Concert debut on Wednesday, July 13 in Tonkawa Centennial Park, 301 East Grand, Tonkawa, OK. The talented duo, Ciara Brooke and Brody Farrow, combine elements of alternative rock and folk for a sound that is uniquely theirs. Audience members will be treated to their original music along with classic pop and rock covers from past and present.

Siblings Brooke (vocals) and Farrow (drums) grew up in Tonkawa and are five years apart in age but are more like twins in many ways. Ciara was always singing and entertaining in her youth, and although Brody didn’t get into music until middle school, he was entertaining too, constantly cracking jokes and making people laugh. In adulthood, their relationship evolved from simply being brother and sister into becoming best friends. In January of 2021, after living together during the pandemic and making music from their home studio, the official band, Five Year Gap, was born.

Already, Five Year Gap has garnered high praise in musical reviews. Steve Scott, of Ponca City Monthly, writes that, “Listening to their music, you immediately realize Ciara and Brody see the world in a distinctly refreshing way and are willing to try different things to bring the message across. I also hear their songs as fostering a healing energy that gives people hope and courage.” Rick Reiley of The Corridor Magazine observes, “This is as good as anything pop/rock I’ve heard this year. I found the music to be hopeful, refreshing and lightly tinged with pleasant mystery…The excellent music combined with the fact that it was from rural Oklahoma, immediately grabbed my attention.”

The family-friendly concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Heart in the Park Pavilion and is free to all. Since bench seating in the park is limited, the public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Pets on leashes are welcome and restroom facilities are located across the street in the Santa Fe Depot. Throughout the evening, concert goers may walk the world’s only heart-shaped labyrinth, and the evening concludes with the traditional group howl at the full moon.

North Central Oklahoma Arts Council and Heart in the Park Committee of the Tonkawa Historical Society sponsor the free monthly concerts from May to October on the night of the full moon. Next month’s Full Moon Concert is scheduled for Thursday, August 11.
