Po-Hi Drum Majors Attend Camp

Ponca City Public Schools - June 28, 2022 6:13 am

The 2022-2023 Po-Hi Drum Majors recently attended the University of Texas at Arlington’s annual Leadership Camp in Arlington, Texas.
Drum Majors Jordan DeLeon, Julian Estrada and Erika Pizzuto spent five days learning from the best band directors from around the southern Plains region.
The 2022-2023 Po-Hi Drum Majors learned conducting, marching, teaching fundamentals, drill and music, problem solving and leadership. The drum majors were taught by band directors and former drum majors at the high school, collegiate and DCI levels. With a focus on conducting and leadership, the camp focused on the skills that will most likely impact their effectiveness as a leader in the band and school.
This camp is designed to strengthen the abilities of beginner, intermediate and advanced students, while providing a variety of experiences in fundamentals, leadership and performance while teaching to be effective squad leaders, drill instructors, section leaders or band and Drum Major officials.
We would like to thank our 2022-2023 Po-Hi Drum Majors for representing Ponca City on the regional stage in Texas.
