Detainee Death Reported At Oklahoma County Detention Center

OKLAHOMA CITY – 

The Oklahoma County Detention Center said one of its detainees died Wednesday night.

Jail officials said Melvin Loveless was discovered by a detention officer making an attempt on his life.

The officer then called for assistance from medical personnel, who began performing life-saving efforts on Loveless.

Loveless was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials said Loveless was booked into the jail June 12. The state medical examiner will determine the detainee’s cause of death.
