Season Opener Full Moon Concert in Tonkawa Features Maple Union
North Central Oklahoma Arts-Heart in the Park - May 8, 2022 11:53 am
Maple Union will ignite the night with jazz, rock, county and rhythm and blues at the season opener Full Moon Concert, sponsored by North Central Oklahoma Arts Council and Heart in the Park. The concert will be held in the Tonkawa Centennial Park at 301 East Grand in Tonkawa on Sunday May 15th.
Maple Union members Dr. John Bartolozzi, guitar; Steven Harwood, piano and vocals; Dave Roberts, bass and vocals; and Billy Thompson, drums will bring a high energy mix of jazz, rock, country and New Orleans rhythm and blues. By audience request after their exceptional 2021 concert, this foursome returns to the Heart in the Park Pavilion.
The family-friendly concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free to all.
Since bench seating in the park is limited, the public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Pets on leashes are welcome and restroom facilities are located across the street in the Santa Fe Depot.
Throughout the evening, concert goers may walk the world’s only heart-shaped labyrinth, and the evening concludes with the traditional group howl at the full moon.
North Central Oklahoma Arts Council and Heart in the Park Committee sponsor the free monthly concerts from May to October on the night of the full moon.
Next month’s Full Moon Concert scheduled for Tuesday, June 14 will feature the eclectic blue grass sounds of Prairie Fire.
