Robert Benjamin Herren
March 20, 1933 – May 3, 2022
Robert B. Herren of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away the evening of May 3, 2022, at Stillwater Medical Center – Blackwell at the age of 89 years.
Robert Benjamin Herren was born on March 20, 1933, in Maud, Oklahoma to Francis Lee Herren and Lucy Pearl (Hurst) Herren. As a young boy he moved with his family to Arkansas City, Kansas and enjoyed working at a greenhouse. They moved to the Blackwell area and began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company, and later worked at and retired from Electron. His wife, Billie preceded him in death on October 24, 2006. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage. Robert was always called “Uncle Benny” to many nieces and nephews, as well as close friends.
Robert was a member of the 33rd Kansas Freemans, York Rite and Knights Templar being certified as “Sir Knight Robert Benjamin Herren.” Robert was also a member of Non-denominational Christian Fellowship.
He is survived by two brothers, Don Herren and wife Ethel and Marvin Herren: as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Kenneth Herren; a brother, Raymond Herren; and a sister, Donna Darlene Points.
A special thank you to his caregivers, Mary Bonewell, Janice and Micky Redding, and the medical staff at Stillwater Medical Center – Blackwell. The family greatly appreciates the care given to Robert.
Viewing will take place from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, May 9, 2022, at Roberts and Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in the chapel at Roberts and Son Funeral Home with Diane Harper and Jennifer Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwell Cemetery.
