A woman has been rescued after being kidnapped back in 2021.

Tallen Treto-Padilla was reported Involuntarily Missing through the McClain County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 5, 2021. Investigation showed that Treto-Padilla had traveled to Mexico through the McAllen, Texas area.

Since November, investigative efforts did not cease. The investigations included numerous search warrants, press releases and interviews in an attempt to find Treto-Padilla.

In early March, due to information that had been provided in press releases, Treto-Padilla became aware that the McClain County Sheriff’s Office was investigating her whereabouts. Treto-Padilla was able to make communication with investigators by using a WiFi-only device. Through this device, Treto-Padilla told investigators that she had been kidnapped while in Mexico and was being held against her will.

Investigators were able to find the location of Treto-Padilla and was also able to identify her captor.

Through the assistance of the U.S. Embassy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Mexico City and the Mexican Anti-Kidnapping Unit, a rescue mission plan was set into motion.

On March 6, 2022, Treto-Padilla was rescued from Simojovel, Chiapas, Mexico and her captor was taken into custody.

Treto-Padilla has safely returned to the United States and her captor is currently awaiting extradition.
