A local art organization has made $100 donations to each Ponca City Public School art teacher to be used for materials or supplies in the classroom.
The City Arts organization, also known as the Ponca City Art Association, made the donations. The gifts were made possible through the generosity of the many sponsors including title sponsors John and Mary Anne O’Neill, Equity Bank, Carl and Brenda Renfro, Phillips 66, Blackwell Dentistry, Stuteville Chevrolet Buick GMC of Ponca City, and Kyle and Rachel Stewart.
“Ponca City has a rich history with the visual arts, and Ponca City Public Schools is an avid supporter of the arts in their curriculum,” said Terron Liles, City Arts Executive Director. “We are so proud to recognize these exceptional art educators with PCPS.”
City Arts is dedicated to enriching the cultural life in our community by promoting, teaching and nourishing the creation and appreciation of the visual arts. They value inclusiveness and diversity by including all artistry, abilities and talent, by welcoming and serving the diversity of the community and by respecting the diversity of our world in their work.
Alisa Naugle, art teacher at Trout and Liberty Elementary, said, “This is a great surprise and wonderful for our students to receive this from The City Arts. I really appreciate it and so will the students when I let them know.”
Annette Hunt, Lincoln Elementary art and gifted and talented instructor said, “It has been a privilege to teach art here at Lincoln Elementary! I am so grateful to The City Arts for their support to the district art teachers and for their passion for art education. Ponca City is blessed to have this dedicated organization in our community!”
