NOC Mass Communication Students Attend Student Day

Northern Oklahoma College Mass Communication students attended the OAB/OBEA (Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters/Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association) Student Day on Thursday, March 24th in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Students were treated to a career fair, luncheon & awards Presentation, and then attended a session on “9 Ways To Power Up Your Writing,” presented by Poynter Institute lecturer/instructor Al Tompkins.

NOC student Cierra Mardis (NOC Enid) placed 1st in the Radio- Public Service Announcement category for her “Type 1 Diabetes” entry and Seth Martin (NOC Tonkawa) placed 3rd in the Radio- Public Service Announcement category for “Child Obesity” entry.

Mass Communication students from colleges and universities across Oklahoma enter this annual competition and only the top 3 entries receive awards. Northern Oklahoma College has been a member of the OBEA since the organization was established in 1988.

Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.

NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater.  Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.

The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science and Applied Science; the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accreditation Commission for Education and Nursing.
