TULSA, Okla. (AP) – A Tulsa-based early childhood education program is among several groups in Oklahoma that have been awarded federal grants to improve the quality of services to infants, toddlers and their families.
Almost $10 million in grants was awarded to Tulsa Educare, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Little Dixie Community Action Agency, Northeast Oklahoma Community Action Agency and Sunbeam Family Services, which is the grantee for Oklahoma City Educare.
Tulsa Educare received $2.9 million and will work with local child care centers and a family child care home to provide training and resources to strengthen and improve programs by reducing class sizes, improving instructional quality and providing comprehensive services such as family support and mental health.
Tulsa Educare consists of three high-quality early childhood schools that serve approximately 540 low-income young children.
