Beverly Cantrell - March 6, 2022 8:55 pm

UPDATE: 9:00 pm 3-6-2022-

Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews report state highways are clear in Northwest Oklahoma after earlier winter precipitation. Crews have cleared and are monitoring wet bridges in Harper, Woods and Woodward counties overnight with temperatures currently in the 27-29 degree range.

3-6-2022, 4:00 pm Alert -Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews are reporting and treating slick spots and bridges in Alfalfa, Beaver, Dewey, Ellis, Harper, Major, Woods, and Woodward counties in Northwest Oklahoma. Accumulation remains minimal, but enough sleet has fallen to create slick conditions in spots.

Motorists can check current road conditions on the interactive travel map at www.okroads.org or through the free Drive Oklahoma mobile app.

REMEMBER during snowy and icy conditions, motorists are asked to:

  • Stay about 200 feet behind road clearing equipment; crews need room to maneuver and can engage plowing or spreading materials without notice.
  • Allow extra space between vehicles to provide adequate distance for braking.
  • Be aware of “black ice,” which looks wet on the roadway but is a thin layer of ice.

Be patient, plan trips ahead and allow extra time in reaching destinations.
