Winter Storm Warning Issued in Our Area

URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

National Weather Service Norman OK at 313 PM CST on Wednesday February 16th issued a Winter storm Warning for the following counties: Harper-Woods-Alfalfa-Grant-Kay-Ellis-Woodward-Major-Garfield-Dewey.

Cities included in the Warning are Buffalo, Laverne, Alva, Cherokee, Helena, Carmen, Medford, Pond Creek, Lamont, Wakita, Ponca City, Blackwell, Tonkawa, Shattuck, Arnett, Gage, Fargo, Woodward, Fairview, Enid, Seiling, Vici, Taloga, and Leedey.

Heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches possible and ice accumulations of less than one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting could be as high as 40 mph in portions of northern and northwest Oklahoma.  The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from midnight tonight to 6 PM on Thursday. Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Stay prepared. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
