Board of Education Approves New Mask Policy

Beverly Cantrell - February 15, 2022 5:20 pm

Ponca City Public Schools-
The Ponca City Board of Education made a change to the mask policy Monday night during the monthly Board of Education meeting.
The new policy states that if a school reaches THREE PERCENT (3%) affected by COVID, masks will be required indoors with an option to get an opt-out exemption. Masks are still required on buses by federal order though March 18, 2022.
Kay County’s risk level was down to 101.4, after an all-time high of 253. PCPS COVID data last week, however, was one of the lowest on record. Last Thursday, the last day of school for students until Tuesday, there was not one case or close contact recorded.
The district website at www.pcps.us will be updated each day with percentages at each school site.
Below is a copy of today’s chart that shows the color-coded sites.
