Franz “Frank” Mossauer, 86, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on January 30, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601.

Frank was born on March 26, 1935, in Knittelfeld, Austria, to Josefa Mossauer. Frank came to the United States on January 23, 1958, from Austria, under the quota of displaced persons. He learned English from a private tutor and enrolled in a three-hour course in mechanics taught by Paul Kester at the Ponca City High School. Frank also had a friend and confidant in Noel Leathers, a social studies teacher at Ponca City High School who spoke German fluently.

Frank was a US Army Veteran and worked many years as a machinist/apparatus technician for Conoco. He married Sylva Balli in McAllen, TX, on September 4, 1962. Frank loved his family and loved playing the accordion. Frank was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He spent many years as the Master of Ceremonies for Oktoberfest and St. Mary’s Fall Fest. Frank and Sylvia loved to travel and considered themselves “Winter Texans”.

Frank is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of the home; son, Joe Mossauer and his wife, Heather, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Emma Mae and Drake; brothers-in-law, Rudy Balli and Sophia and their family, Ruben Balli and his family, Fred Balli and Nina and their family, Robert Balli and Belen and their family; sisters-in-law, Diana Balli and Jaime and their family, Dora Gonzalez and Jaime and their family, Yolanda Trant and Rod and their family; and many, many good friends, both here and in Austria.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Josefa; aunt, Maria Hada and her daughter, Elizabeth Brannin and brother-in-law, Fidel Balli.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff that cared for Frank during his illness with Parkinson’s disease.
