Fred H. Hockert, Jr.

September 15, 1946 ~ January 28, 2022 (age 75)

Mr. Frederick Henry Hockert, Jr of Tonkawa has gone to heaven. He was 75 years young. He was born on September 15, 1946, in Washington, D.C. the son of Frederick Henry Hockert, Sr. and Vera Birch Hockert. Being the son of a US Navy man, he moved around as a child. He graduated from school in Virginia and promptly joined the U.S. Air Force. It was while in the Air Force that he met the love of his life, his bride, Elizabeth Tah. They were married on February 15, 1970 in Wichita, KS and enjoyed fifty-one years of bliss. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for a flight crew until his retirement in 1985. During his career his family saw much of the world including 4 years in Germany, 4 years in Las Vegas, Nevada, and finally home to Oklahoma. He served 2 tours in the South -East Asia Vietnam War conflict. Mr. Hockert was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss and cherish his memory, his wife Elisabeth of the home, son Brett Hockert and his wife Keitha of Tonkawa, son Fred Hockert III of Tonkawa, daughter Candace Byrum of Tonkawa, stepson Steve Robbins and his wife Tammy of Calumet. Grandchildren: John Robert Schuller, Brianna Hockert, Cameron Hockert, Bernadette Hockert, Carlaeona Hockert, Kerinity Hockert, Justin Hockert, Raven Thomas and her husband Jean, Savannah Hockert, Karstyn Braun, Alec Byrum, Lauryn Byrum, Mason Byrum, great grandchildren: Luna Thomas, Maximus Thomas, Leia Thomas, and Sophie Hockert.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Sr. and Vera Hockert.

A very athletic man, he enjoyed playing golf and even played softball while in Germany. He had a poker group who met up two times every week. This close group of friends will surely miss him very much.

Mourning Services will begin with a lying in state at the Tonkawa Tribal Gymnasium on Monday afternoon. An evening meal will be provided Monday night.

Friends and family are invited to a Traditional Tribal feast in his honor on Tuesday at noon at the Tonkawa Tribal Gymnasium. The service will follow at the gym with Daniel Sherron officiating. Casket Bearers for the service will include Darren Pendleton, Donnie Guerra, John Cooper, Darren Kreger, Kevin Coy, Chancey Burns. Honorary Bearers will conclude Donnie Heinbach, Frank Williams, Scott Ailey and Joel Luna.

Burial will follow at the Tonkawa Tribal Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City. Online condolences can be made at www.gracememorialchapel.net.
