Carol Hare

September 23, 1949 – January 24, 2022

Carol Mae Estes Hare, 72, of Ponca City, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, surrounded by her girls. She was born September 23, 1949, to Dollretta Mae (Clark) and Rufe Carroll Estes, in Pawnee, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Kaw Nation. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Larry Estes.

Carol leaves behind daughters, Kayla & husband, Brian Jackson, Kelly & husband, Justin Garrison, Keesha & husband, Vito Vicchio; grandchildren, Brittany Dias, Jaelin Kent, Gunner McKinney, Jamison Sylestine, Sam McKinney, Anna McKinney, Vito Vicchio, Jay Garrison & wife, Shelby, and Hunter Garrison; and great-grandchildren, Aria Eckstein, Oliver Eckstein and Cale Garrison. These kids meant the absolute world to Carol. All of them. She is also survived by her brother Terry Estes & wife, Debbie, and nieces, Traci White and Lori McBride, and their families. Carol found great comfort knowing her daughters married good men.

We haven’t figured out how to live our lives without her yet. She was a force of nature and was very much a part of each and every one of our daily lives. She believed in us and made sure we believed in ourselves. She led by example. While serving on the Kaw Nation Tribal Council, she spearheaded the process for the Kaw Nation to get license plates, even though everyone said it couldn’t be done. This is a legacy we are proud to know she made happen and we will smile every time we see a car with a Kaw Nation tag.

Carol will lie in state at the Kaw Nation Roundhouse, Kaw Nation Powwow Grounds, Washunga, from Wednesday, January 26, 2022, until Saturday, January 29, 2022. There will be a meal served at 1:00 PM, Saturday, at the Roundhouse, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:30 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Washunga Cemetery, Newkirk, OK.

Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
