October 29, 1932 ~ December 23, 2021 (age 89)

Norma Lee Powell Cook, 89, went to be with her Lord early Thursday morning December 23rd, 2021 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 29, 1932 to Jaklee Lee Powell and Nora Essie Kirklin Powell in Wagoner Oklahoma. She graduated from Wagoner High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University. During her college days she met William Zachariah Cook Jr. and they had their first date on Valentine’s Day. She transferred to the University of Oklahoma her junior year where she graduated with her degree in Elementary Education. Later she received her Master Degree from Liberty University, and had training in lay counseling. She married the love of her life William (Bill) Zachariah Cook on August 24, 1952. They had four daughters: Nancy, Mary, Susan, and Kim.

As a family they traveled over the United States teaching, doing missions, and counseling for 20+ years. She rarely met a person whom she did not introduce to Jesus and led many to the Lord. Studying the Bible was a passion and she loved to teach. If you met her you knew she loved her family and her Lord.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Zachariah Cook Jr., her parents Nora Essie Powell and Jaklee Lee Powell, one brother, and her great grandson Henderson Jake Ballard. She is survived by Nancy Lee Newport of Ponca City Oklahoma, Mary Kathleen Stinson of Alexander City Alabama, Susan Gay Cook of Owasso Oklahoma, and Billye Kim Ballard of Charlotte North Carolina; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren with 5 on the way.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday December 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Winfield, Kansas. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM at Second Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma, 1112 West Grand.
