COMANCHE COUNTY, Kan. (AP) — A 20-year-old Kansas woman died Sunday after the truck she was riding in smashed into a concrete highway barrier in a rural part of Kansas.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday along state Highway 1 in Comanche County, which isn’t far from the Oklahoma border in southwest Kansas.

A cheerleader from the University of Oklahoma, Britney Marie Turley, 20, was killed in a crash.

The accident report said that Brittney Marie Turley was a passenger in a 2014 Dodge Ram that veered across the centerline and struck the barrier, but it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash.

Turley was taken to Comanche County Hospital where she died. The 22-year-old driver Morgan Turley, sister of Turley, was taken to a Wichita hospital and is expected to be okay.

Both Turley and the driver were from Coldwater, Kansas.
