March 14, 1944 – December 6, 2021
Keith BuffaloHead, Sr. “Wa’ si si ga,” resident of Ponca City passed away in the early morning of December 06, 2021, at Stillwater Medical Center. He was 77 years young.
He was born March 14, 1944 to Roy and Dorothy BuffaloHead. Keith was born and raised in Ponca City, Ok, and was a member of the “Hi si da clan” of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma.
He attended Haskell Indian Institute 1963 then joined the U.S. Army 1964 as a Combat Engineer and Parachutist with the 101st Airborne. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Parachutist Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1967. With his training from the U.S. Army, he made his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Evening services will be held Wednesday, 7:00 pm, at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center with Reverend Louis Headman officiating. Thursday Dinner will be served at 11:00 am with Funeral services to follow. Interment will follow promptly at 3:30 pm at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery with U.S. Army Military Honors.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Coralie Collins BuffaloHead of 45 years together, Brother Dwight BuffaloHead and sister Mary Hamilton. Children: Keith BuffaloHead Jr., Sharyl BuffaloHead, Nathaniel
BuffaloHead, Delicia Chavez, Mark BuffaloHead, Deanna BuffaloHead, Julia BuffaloHead, Patricia Gomez-Lieb, Wayne Gomez, and Steven Gomez. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Dorothy BuffaloHead, brothers Mark BuffaloHead, Ronald BuffaloHead, Duane BuffaloHead, Timothy BuffaloHead, and Steve BuffaloHead, and sisters Betty Stallings
and Joyce Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Freddy Others Sr., Noah BuffaloHead, Aden BuffaloHead, Mark BuffaloHead Jr., Isaiah BuffaloHead, and William Arkeketa.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith BuffaloHead Jr Nathaniel BuffaloHead. Baptiste Roy, Kyrus Carney, INs ThuN/HutoN “Thunder” Lieb, Max pi xu’ de – “Graycloud” Lieb, and Na’Nzhi “Rain” Nestell.
Keith will be remembered for his compassion, empathy, and giving heart. Rest in peace, Wi btha ha.
