Enid’s ‘Christ Tree,’ World’s Tallest Christmas Tree, Snaps From High Winds

Enid’s centerpiece for their holiday activities, the world’s largest Christmas tree, has snapped due to high winds that occurred recently.

The tree, known as the “Christ Tree,” had traveled 2,000 miles from the Shasta National Forest in California where it had been chosen from trees marked for harvest.

The Christ Tree towered 75% taller than the Rockefeller Tree in New York and was to serve as a bright beacon for the holiday season.

The One, an organization in Enid dedicated to bringing the community together during the holidays, voiced their sadness over the snapping of the Christ Tree.

“We are all broken. We can all be made new in time,” The One wrote in their Facebook post. “We can’t thank our amazing community enough for the prayers, love and support as we navigate these next steps. We are full of HOPE!”

The One thanked Kline Sign LLC for aiding in the removal of the top of the Christ Tree.

Despite the damage, organizers said the tree will continue to shine.

“We have the best team working on making repairs to Christ Tree along with the surrounding trees and decorations,” says Kyle Williams, The One visionary and chief executive officer of Hammer Williams Co. “Enid, without a doubt, is a wonderful community to live in. We are united and rise by lifting others. Together we can do great things.”

Organizers said the Christ Tree will remain the centerpiece of our 42-day event and will be relit soon. Visitors are encouraged to continue to visit northwest Oklahoma to experience The One from now through January 6. For the most up-to-date information and updates, organizers said you can check their Facebook page.
