OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Police say an armed man who was shot by officers after a slow-speed chase through Oklahoma City has died.

Capt. Paco Balderrama said Monday that 39-year-old Jerry Nowlin died after being shot Sunday night following the police chase that ended when the man’s vehicle crashed into a gate at an apartment complex in northeast Oklahoma City. Police say the chase began after the man failed to stop for a traffic violation.

Police say the man ran into the complex after the crash and that two officers opened fire when they saw him pull out a gun.

The officers involved are identified as Sgt. Christopher Grimes and Sgt. Joshua Castlebury. Balderrama says neither officer was injured and both have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
